# FAQ Structured Data
faq:
  - question: "Who is a candidate for uterine PRP?"
answer: "Uterine PRP is considered for patients preparing for an embryo transfer whose history suggests the uterine environment could use extra support — a persistently thin endometrial lining, prior cycles where the lining responded poorly, or repeated implantation failure despite good-quality embryos. It isn't for everyone: Dr. Zarek will review your history, prior cycles, and lining measurements to determine whether PRP is a reasonable addition to your plan."
  - question: "How effective is uterine PRP?"
answer: "The evidence is promising but still emerging. Published studies have shown improvements in endometrial thickness and, in some series, implantation and pregnancy rates — particularly for patients with a thin lining. Results vary between patients, and large randomized trials are ongoing. Dr. Zarek will discuss what the research shows for your specific situation and help you set realistic expectations."
  - question: "Is uterine PRP a standalone fertility treatment?"
answer: "No. Uterine PRP is an adjunct used during preparation for an embryo transfer — often alongside an HCG wash — not a treatment on its own. It's designed to help optimize the uterine environment so your transfer has its best chance, not to replace the transfer cycle itself."
  - question: "What does the procedure feel like? Are there risks?"
answer: "The infusion is delivered through a thin, soft catheter — most patients find it similar to an IUI or a mock embryo transfer, and no anesthesia is needed. Because PRP comes from your own blood, allergic reaction is essentially not a concern. The most common side effect is mild, brief cramping; as with any uterine procedure there is a small risk of infection, but complications are rare."
  - question: "How is uterine PRP timed? How many treatments will I need?"
answer: "PRP is timed within your transfer-preparation cycle, typically before your embryo transfer, based on how your lining responds during monitoring. Some patients have a single treatment; others benefit from a repeat in the same or a following cycle. Dr. Zarek will build the timing into your protocol and adjust based on your lining's response."

What this service is

For some patients, your provider may recommend additional therapies to help optimize the uterine environment before embryo transfer. These treatments are individualized based on your medical history and are designed to improve uterine receptivity, support implantation, and maximize your chances of success.

Uterine PRP — often paired with an HCG wash — delivers concentrated growth factors from your own blood directly to the uterine lining ahead of your embryo transfer.

The science behind PRP

## Your blood. Your growth factors. A targeted boost.

Platelet-rich plasma contains a concentrated mix of growth factors, cytokines, and bioactive proteins that play roles in tissue repair and regeneration. Delivered to the uterine lining, these factors may support endometrial growth and receptivity — helping create a more welcoming environment for an embryo to implant. The mechanism is biological — your body’s own repair signals, concentrated and directed to where they’re needed.

The clinical evidence for PRP in reproductive medicine is early but growing. Published studies and case series have shown improvements in endometrial thickness and implantation outcomes in some patients — particularly those with a persistently thin lining. However, large-scale randomized controlled trials are still underway, and results vary between patients. Dr. Zarek approaches PRP as a promising adjunct — not a guarantee — and will help you weigh the potential benefit against the cost and the current state of the evidence.

## One visit. Three steps. $500.

What’s in the treatment

Each PRP treatment is a single office visit covering the full process.

## Blood Draw

A small blood sample is drawn from your arm — the same as a routine blood test. This is the source material for your PRP. The entire draw takes about five minutes.

## Centrifuge Processing

Your blood is placed in a centrifuge and spun at high speed to separate the platelet-rich plasma from the rest of the blood components. Processing takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes.

## Uterine Infusion

The concentrated PRP is delivered into the uterine cavity through a thin, soft catheter — a brief office procedure similar to an IUI or mock embryo transfer. No anesthesia is needed, and most patients describe only mild cramping.

## Recovery & Next Steps

Most patients return to normal activities right away. Your transfer-preparation cycle continues on schedule — Dr. Zarek times the treatment so your lining has the best chance to respond before your embryo transfer.

**Not included:** embryo transfer cycle costs (priced separately), medications, diagnostic testing before and after treatment, and any repeat treatments. Uterine PRP is an adjunct to your transfer preparation, not a replacement — the transfer cycle is a separate fee.

## Common questions about uterine PRP.

### Who is a candidate for uterine PRP?

Uterine PRP is considered for patients preparing for an embryo transfer whose history suggests the uterine environment could use extra support — a persistently thin endometrial lining, prior cycles where the lining responded poorly, or repeated implantation failure despite good-quality embryos. It isn't for everyone: Dr. Zarek will review your history, prior cycles, and lining measurements to determine whether PRP is a reasonable addition to your plan.

### How effective is uterine PRP?

The evidence is promising but still emerging. Published studies have shown improvements in endometrial thickness and, in some series, implantation and pregnancy rates — particularly for patients with a thin lining. Results vary between patients, and large randomized trials are ongoing. Dr. Zarek will discuss what the research shows for your specific situation and help you set realistic expectations.

### Is uterine PRP a standalone fertility treatment?

No. Uterine PRP is an adjunct used during preparation for an embryo transfer — often alongside an HCG wash — not a treatment on its own. It's designed to help optimize the uterine environment so your transfer has its best chance, not to replace the transfer cycle itself.

### What does the procedure feel like? Are there risks?

The infusion is delivered through a thin, soft catheter — most patients find it similar to an IUI or a mock embryo transfer, and no anesthesia is needed. Because PRP comes from your own blood, allergic reaction is essentially not a concern. The most common side effect is mild, brief cramping; as with any uterine procedure there is a small risk of infection, but complications are rare.

### How is uterine PRP timed? How many treatments will I need?

PRP is timed within your transfer-preparation cycle, typically before your embryo transfer, based on how your lining responds during monitoring. Some patients have a single treatment; others benefit from a repeat in the same or a following cycle. Dr. Zarek will build the timing into your protocol and adjust based on your lining's response.

## Wondering if PRP could help?

PRP isn’t right for everyone — but if a thin lining or implantation challenges have been part of your story, it may offer a meaningful edge going into your transfer. The best way to find out is a conversation with Dr. Zarek about your history, your cycles, and your goals. The initial 30-minute consult is $100 virtual or $200 in person.
